Plan the wording on a new memorial
Start with the exact names and dates, then decide whether to include an epitaph, family name, religious symbol or artwork. Letter size and spacing need to work with the stone’s dimensions and the amount of wording.
We prepare a layout for your review before work begins. Check every spelling, date and line of text, and ask to see any changes in the proof before approving it.
Adding a name, date or inscription
For an existing headstone, a clear photograph helps us assess the lettering style, the stone’s condition and the space left for a new inscription. Include both an overall photo and a close view of the existing text.
We review final-date inscriptions, additional names, epitaphs and re-lettering requests. The method and location of the work depend on the memorial and cemetery requirements; these details are confirmed when the request is assessed.
Portraits, symbols and custom artwork
Photo etching can incorporate a portrait or meaningful image into a suitable granite design. Send the clearest original photo you have so we can review facial detail, contrast and the intended size.
We also discuss religious symbols, cultural motifs and custom memorial artwork. The design, stone and image need to work together; an image that looks good on a screen may need adjustments for engraving.
Arabic lettering and bilingual designs
Arabic lettering and bilingual inscriptions can be included in a custom memorial layout. Provide the exact approved text rather than relying on a name’s English spelling to determine its Arabic form.
Have a family member or a fluent reader check the wording, spelling and arrangement on the final proof. If the design includes religious text, review it with the person guiding your family’s memorial choices.
Common questions
Can you add a final date to an existing headstone?
We review additional lettering requests. Send a photo of the full memorial, a close-up of the existing lettering, the exact date to add, and the cemetery name so we can assess the work.
What kind of photo should I send for portrait etching?
Send the original, highest-resolution image available. A clear face with good detail gives us more to work with than a screenshot or a heavily filtered photo. We will review the image before confirming a design.
Will I see the inscription before it is engraved?
Yes. You review the personalized layout before monument work begins. Names, dates, wording, artwork and any bilingual text should all be checked on the proof.
